A brief history of the Chicago & North Western Iowa Division mainline, now part of the Overland Route:

06/16/22

This dual span girder bridge crosses over Indian Creek and the Union Pacific mainline just east of Nevada.
The bridge was built in 1900 as a dual span deck girder bridge due to a double tracking project through the area. In 1902, the through girder was added to replace a deck girder span.
It however appears that the through girder span is also original to the bridge, leading the author to question the interesting design.
Immediately to the east is another bridge, the UP County E41 Bridge.
The substructures of the bridge are made in stone. This is typical of this generation of bridges along this line.

The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
The photo above is an overview. The bridge can be seen from County Road E41.
